Over 700 teachers and students from Guiyang No 2 Middle School in Yunyan district attended a special popular science lecture on Sept 20, delivered by Academician Fu Xiangdong of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Drawing on cutting-edge scientific research, Fu explained frontier topics such as green, low-carbon agriculture and crop genetic breeding in simple, accessible language. He illustrated the scientific mechanisms behind the agricultural green revolution and shared his experiences of overcoming challenges in scientific research, helping teachers and students appreciate the charm of modern agricultural technology.
This lecture is a key event of the 2026 National Science Popularization Month. It provides a platform for young people in the district to communicate with academicians and lays a solid foundation for fostering their scientific literacy.
Yunyan will continue to access high-quality popular science resources at the provincial and municipal levels, improve public scientific literacy across the district, and form a vibrant social atmosphere that values innovation and embraces science.
