Yunyan district holds sci-tech event

More than 1,000 students from Yunyan District No 5 Primary School attended the launch ceremony of the Yunyan District Science and Technology Week on April 20, where they learned about phenological changes, improved their practical abilities, and experienced how traditional culture connects with modern life through a variety of hands-on science activities.

Six themed zones were set up for the event, including a technology experience zone, an eye health science education zone, and a plant science education zone.

In the technology experience zone, a Unitree robot dog drew excited reactions from the children. A staff member explained that the robot dog can enter narrow spaces for search-and-rescue missions, and can be equipped with different functional modules according to various environments, giving it broad applications in military and disaster prevention.

In the eye health education zone, doctors from Guiyang Huaxia Yangming Eye Hospital used eyeball models to explain eye anatomy to the children. The children won prizes through interactive games and learned about the importance of protecting their eyes.

The science caravan experience zone featured interesting science exhibits and experimental equipment, serving as a mobile "science classroom" for children.

In the plant science education zone, the children engaged in immersive plant science exploration, exploring the fascinating world of plants up close.

"I saw the robot dog today and learned the Heimlich maneuver. I feel like a little hero!" said Chen Qiyao, a third-grade student.

Zong Hua, a representative of Yunyan district, said that the event allowed participants to enjoy nature, learn about science, and truly feel the charm of science and technology through immersive experiences. He expressed hope that children would carry this spirit home, allowing innovation to take root and thrive in Yunyan.
