The Guizhou Department of Culture and Tourism announced six additions to the 2024 Guizhou Tourism and Leisure Blocks, on Dec 16. Among them is the Xinyin 1950 Discovery project in Yunyan district of Guiyang, which stands out for its creative revitalization of an old industrial site.
Opened on May 25, Xinyin 1950 Discovery has transformed a former factory into a thriving cultural and commercial hub. The site welcomed 128,000 visitors on its launch day, with millions more tuning in via livestream to witness its grand debut.
Once overlooked, the old factory is now a vibrant cultural and tourism landmark in Guiyang.

The project has focused on preserving industrial heritage while integrating modern functionality and aesthetics. Guided by historical preservation, ecological balance, and inventive design themes, Xinyin 1950 Discovery blends the original factory with innovative elements, creating a dynamic cultural space.
Key features include a mixed-use urban complex combining business, shopping, culture, and entertainment. By clustering brands and fostering a vibrant commercial ecosystem, the project has created a new economic hub, enhanced local nightlife with food and bar streets, and established itself as a must-visit hotspot.
