Yunyan breaks top 100 in sci-tech innovation

The recently-released 2024 High-Quality Development Index for China's Small and Medium-Sized Cities recognized Guiyang's Yunyan district on three prestigious lists, including the "2024 Top 100 Districts in Scientific and Technological Innovation".

This marks the sixth consecutive year Yunyan has achieved this honor.

Located in the urban center of Guiyang, Yunyan has become a hub for technological innovation and talent development.

In 2023, the district adopted a comprehensive approach to enhancing innovation capacity. By focusing on redefining innovation strategies, strengthening platforms, nurturing enterprises, fostering an ecosystem of innovation, and attracting top talent, Yunyan has achieved remarkable progress.

In 2023, the district was home to 120 high-tech enterprises and 129 technology-driven small and medium-sized enterprises. R&D expenditure in Yunyan surged by 39 percent year-on-year, while 157 provincial-level science and technology projects received funding. The district registered over 3 billion yuan ($412.25 million) in technology contract transactions and welcomed 171 high-level and urgently needed professionals.

Moving forward, Yunyan plans to implement cutting-edge, high-impact projects to accelerate the practical application of scientific achievements in industry. Additionally, it will further refine talent recruitment and development strategies, turning its talent pool into a driving force for innovation and sustainable growth.
