Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has again been listed in the 2024 China Small and Medium-Sized Cities High-Quality Development Index, ranking in the top 100 for green development, investment potential, and innovation for the sixth year in a row.
Yunyan's urban green space coverage has reached 47.97 percent, with soil and water conservation rates and forest coverage remaining stable at over 93 percent and 37 percent, respectively. The air quality rate has surpassed 99 percent, and the district has achieved a 100 percent rate of harmless domestic waste treatment.
In the first three quarters of this year, Yunyan's GDP reached 66.96 billion yuan ($9.34 billion), growing by 6.1 percent. The provincial-level economic development zone expanded by 236,000 square meters of standard factory space. Over this period, 75 new projects were introduced, with 13 valued at more than 100 million yuan.
The district has made significant strides in the digital economy, investing 740 million yuan into digital infrastructure, ranking first in the city. From January to August, Yunyan's internet and related services sector generated 2.03 billion yuan in revenue, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 76.3 percent.
Yunyan has secured support for 154 provincial-level science and technology R&D projects. For the first time, the district's R&D spending exceeded the 1-billion-yuan threshold, reaching 1.318 billion yuan, a 41.26-percent increase.
