In 2023, Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, focused on ecological development and achieved remarkable results.

The district achieved a 100 percent compliance rate for the water quality of its rivers, as well as for its groundwater quality at national monitoring points.

Additionally, the district's harmless disposal rate of medical waste, disposal rate for industrial solid waste, and the safe utilization rate of key construction land all reached 100 percent.

The rate of kitchen waste separation remained stable at over 20 percent, and the district achieved full coverage in terms of waste sorting facilities. Furthermore, two new waste sorting centers were put into operation in the district, with an average daily intake of 670 metric tons of garbage.

Additionally, the district added 32,000 square meters of new green space, making its ecological environment even better.

In 2024, Yunyan will continue to commit itself to green development, and will strive to further enhance its ecological development.

Efforts will be made to ensure that the district's soil and water conservation rate and forest coverage rate remain stable at or above 93 percent and 37 percent, respectively.

The district also plans to expand its urban green spaces this year, which will place emphasis on the shift towards green development.
