A raft of volunteers has risen to the occasion – tirelessly and diligently offering their help – after the city of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently hit by a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In particular, the city's Yunyan district has actively participated in the voluntary work in the fight against the virus.

So far, more than 210,000 people in the district have participated in volunteer services for pandemic prevention and control, including more than 70,000 Party members, serving more than 16.73 million times.

The cumulative service time amounts to more than 2.77 million hours.

On Sept 13, a 24-hour counseling hotline for Yunyan residents officially started giving consultations.

Those operating the hotline are volunteers from the Yunyan district psychological counseling volunteer service team.

They're qualified psychological consultants with a rich experience in their field. They provide free counseling to residents who have been isolated at home for a long time and assist them to cope with their problems and any stress and negative feelings they have.
