Since the onset of the current wave of COVID-19, Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been adhering to the strategy of static management.
Some residents have been struggling with mental health after being stuck in their homes for a long period of time, with many experiencing anxiety, boredom, depression and more.
The Yunyan District Spiritual Civilization Construction Guidance Service Center (Yunyan District Volunteer Service Center) and the Guizhou Provincial Family Education Federation have established a volunteer psychological consultation team to provide 24-hour free mental health counseling services during the pandemic prevention and control period.
The 24-hour consultation hotline for residents' mental health counseling officially began operating on Sept 13.
In addition, the volunteer service team has established a mental health counseling group to provide professional, standardized and convenient public welfare psychological counseling for residents and frontline workers in the district.
