Yunyan district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, held a work conference on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on Dec 16, and enacted the consensus on the innovative development of TCM in the district.

According to the consensus, in 2022, Yunyan will upgrade Yunyan District TCM Hospital to the standards of a third-level TCM hospital. Township health centers and community health service centers should have at least one practicing (assistant) physician in TCM.

All village clinics and community health service stations should be able to provide TCM services.

By 2025, the number of TCM hospital beds per 10,000 permanent residents in Yunyan will reach 5.5.

In order to meet its targets, Yunyan will strengthen financial support policies, improve the subsidy system for policy losses due to TCM, and adjust the basic medical subsidies offered to public hospitals for TCM.

The district will promote the integration of TCM and elderly care services, and encourage elderly care institutions to cooperate with TCM institutions to establish fast green channels for consultations.

Yunyan will also encourage various types of medical institutions at all levels to provide TCM services such as rehabilitation, training, and education.
