To create a 15-minute living circle, sports fields at 19 schools in Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, opened to the public on Nov 6.

That same day, people living in surrounding areas visited Guiyang Experimental Primary School's basketball court, track-and-field ground, football field and other venues to exercise after registering their information, having their temperatures taken, undergoing physical examinations, and having their health codes scanned.

"We will strictly limit the number of people who can enter school grounds for exercise and monitor their physical conditions," said Liao Yufei, vice-president of Guiyang Experimental Primary School.

Previously, the school has promoted itself through WeChat groups to encourage surrounding residents to participate in a nationwide fitness program.

The school has also increased the number of administrative staff members on weekends and security at the school gate and arranged for physical education teachers to take turns teaching students.

Yunyan plans to complete the opening of a second batch of sports venues at 23 schools by 2022, and by 2023, all 60 schools are expected to open their sports venues to the public.
