Yunyan district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is building its first science education center for the water treatment industry in the Liuguangmen water reclamation plant.

The education center will intuitively popularize advanced sewage treatment technologies and processes to the general public.

The water reclamation plant, co-built by Yunyan district's government and China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group, is located in the river basin of the Guancheng River, which is a tributary of the Nanming River.

It is a vital project to help Guiyang effectively solve domestic sewage overflow into the Nanming River and an essential part of the jurisdiction's comprehensive water environment improvement project.

The project has created two national firsts: the country's deepest fully buried water plant, which is at a depth of 32 meters underground, and the country's first water reclamation plant integrated within a commercial complex.

A large commercial complex with a construction area of 540,000 square meters will be built above the water plant, including stadiums, commercial buildings and residential apartments.

When the upper complex is completed, 20 percent of the effluent from the advanced treatment will be used to flush toilets and watering the complex's green spaces, and 80 percent will be used for supplying an ecologically safe water supply for the Nanming River.
