Yunyan district, the main urban area of Guiyang -- the capital city of China's Southwest Guizhou province -- is an important political, economic and cultural center of the prominent metropolis.

Yunyan governs 27 community service centers, one town and one industrial park. The land area of the district is 9,357 hectares, with a population of 1.35 million. It is the smallest administrative area in the province, with the largest population density.

In recent years, Yunyan has insisted on innovation-driven and opening-up driven development models and has optimized its business environment via the introduction of technology, capital, recruitment and other resources, as well as successfully attracting to the district a variety of scientific and technological innovation elements.

Location advantages

Yunyan is located in the hinterland of central Guizhou, boasting efficient and convenient transportation. It is only 10 minute’s drive from Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport and Guiyang North Railway Station. Five highways that connect cities and prefectures in Guizhou province converge here.

Meanwhile, it has rail transits points running throughout the whole district, which boasts 21 stations and four transfer stations.

Yunyan also have four higher education institutes and three top-level hospitals with complete medical facilities.

Excellent natural environment

Owing to its cool and pleasant climate, Yunyan has a superior natural environment. It has an average annual temperature of 15.3℃. In recent years, the numbers of days with excellent or good air quality have continued to remain above 90 percent throughout the whole year. Moreover, Yunyan is far from seismic zones so that natural disasters rarely occur. 

Yunyan is also a tourism and culture center in Guizhou due to its rich cultural and natural features including Qianling Mountain, the Wenchang Pavilion and Xiaoguan Lake.

Economy, social development thrives

The levels of economic and social development in Yunyan district have put it at the forefront of Guizhou province and its total economic output has ranked it first there for 16 consecutive years.

Yunyan's GDP reached 80.90 billion yuan in 2019, an increase of 7.2 percent year on year, according to official statistics.

The added value of the primary industry totaled 190 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.8 percent. The added value of the secondary industry was 24.92 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2 percent, while the added value of the tertiary industry was 55.96 billion yuan, up 7.2 percent.

The proportion of Yunyan's primary, secondary and tertiary industries was adjusted to 0.02:30.81:69.17.

The per capita GDP of the resident population was 82,647 yuan in 2019.

With all these dynamic economic factors considered, Yunyan district has proved to be a magnet for major companies who have chosen to locate there. Officials say that some 80 percent of all the headquarters of financial institutions in Guiyang are now located in Yunyan.

As a result, the Guizhou provincial government has introduced support measures for Yunyan's development. Investment projects in Yunyan are provided with quality services in areas such as land, finance, recruitment and market access.
