Yunyan sweetens subsides to up employment, entrepreneurship

Yunyan district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has continuously increased its support for promoting employment and entrepreneurship, according to local officials.

It has incorporated employment subsidy funds into its budget so as to effectively solve the unemployment problem.

As of April 28, a total of 25.52 million yuan ($3.6 million) of employment subsidy funds were raised. Officials said about 12.49 million yuan was granted to eligible small and micro-sized enterprises and people having difficulties in gaining employment.

Of this, Yunyan district channeled 6.46 million yuan of funds into vocational skills training, 2.5 million yuan for rental subsidies of business premises and 1.29 million yuan for public welfare positions and social security.

In addition, a total of 790,000 yuan was granted to support  graduates and the young entrepreneurs starting a business; and 1.45 million yuan went into improving public employment services.

Officials said Yunyan is expected to boost the economy by increasing the channels of employment and finetuning its subsidy policies.
