Updated: 2020-03-27

Yunyan district in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China’s Guizhou province -- will continue to implement 34 major engineering projects and key projects on a special support list, according to local officials on March 12.

They said the projects have a total annual of almost 10.5 billion yuan ($ 1.49 billion).

They involve 14 vital infrastructure projects, 12 major projects for industry development and eight key livelihood projects, covering construction of such infrastructure as sewerage treatment plants, a modern logistics innovation park and hospitals.

Confronted with novel coronavirus epidemic, authorities in Yunyan district started actively taking various measures in February.

Officials said they followed the principles of “One Project, One List” and “One Project, One Director” to coordinate and assist projects currently being built.

In addition, on-site prevention against the epidemic, coordination of medical appliances and information gathering were rolled out, in order to speed up the  orderly resumption of work and production.

Currently, 19 under-construction projects -- relating to social undertakings, eco-environment protection and urban construction -- have already fully resumed work.

In addition, 98.6 percent of registered employees have returned to duty -- totaling 4,883 staff members -- according to a senior official at the development and reform bureau in Yunyan district.
