Yunyan district in Guiyang, in Southwest China's Guizhou province, plans to cooperate with Guian New Area, in an effort to develop the district into an international high-end consumption goods industrial and trade demonstration zone, said Lin Gang, secretary of the CPC Yunyan district committee.

Lin expressed his support for the cooperation when he recently led a delegation to the High-end Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park in Guian, China's eighth national new area approved by the State Council on Jan 6, 2014.

During the visit, the delegation inspected the planned area for the Yunyan (Guian) Science and Technology Park and heard about the development blueprint and industrial development of the southern part of the High-end Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park.

Yunyan is the geographically smallest district in Guizhou, but it has the province's largest economic aggregate and densest population, which means the district suffers from a shortage of land for industrial and commercial use, and an imbalance between human and land use, Lin said.

At present, Yunyan is making efforts to set up a modern economic system and is hoping to reach a consensus with Guian for the completion of the science and technology park, he added.

Lin also pointed out that both Yunyan and Guian will strengthen exchanges by signing the cooperation agreement which will have clear details of relevant policies, industries and funds. A new business model featuring settling headquarters in Yunyan and manufacturing in Guian was also suggested.

Ouyang Wu, a member of the CPC Guian New Area working committee, said that the new area attaches great importance to the cooperation agreement, which has great promise as Yunyan is strong in population, market and investment attraction, while Guian boasts sufficient land.
