Yangming Temple

Updated: 2019-08-22

Located near Fufeng Mountain, east of Guiyang city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, Yangming Temple was built in 1814, the 19th year of the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is a national key cultural relic protection unit and the core sightseeing spot of the Fufeng Mountain scenic area (composed of the ancient buildings of Yangming Temple, Yin Daozhen Temple, and Fufeng Temple). With inner connecting corridors and lush trees, the temple is quiet and pleasant and features abundant poetry inscriptions and cultural relics.

Yangming Temple is an ancestral hall established by the descendants to commemorate the famous philosopher, strategist and writer of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and the founder of the philosophy of the mind, Wang Shouren (also known as Wang Bo'an or Wang Yangming) (1472-1528). Yangming Temple was listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit in 1982 and was promoted to a national key cultural relic protection unit in 2006. In October 1995, it was listed as a patriotic education base in Guizhou.
